CFA Association Russia maintains the tradition of organizing regular professional events for the local financial community, and invites you on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 9:30AM to the first webcast event in 2009. This time, we have the opportunity to meet with Professor Aswath Damodaran, whose research interests lie in valuation, portfolio management, and applied corporate finance.

The CFA Institute will broadcast his pre-recorded video-presentation of January 2009 on "The 10 Biggest "Sins" in DCF Valuation (Part 1)".

Dante Meets DCF: The 10 Biggest "Sins" in DCF Valuation (Part 1). From the 2008 Equity Research and Valuation Techniques conference.

In this webcast, Aswath Damodaran discusses the following:

  • Input traps and inconsistencies of discounted cash flow (DCF) valuation
  • The 10 most common mistakes in DCF valuation and the layers of valuation hell that you will be consigned to with each one
  • Basic practices in valuation, such as how to compute taxes for after-tax income, where to go to get betas, whether debt ratios should change over time, how to calculate terminal value, and more


SPEAKER'S BIOGRAPHY

Aswath DamodaranAswath Damodaran is professor of finance and David Margolis Teaching Fellow at the Leonard N. Stern School of Business at New York University. Professor Damodaran, whose research interests lie in valuation, portfolio management, and applied corporate finance, has authored articles in such publications as the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis and the Journal of Finance. Additionally, he is the author of a number of books and is the co-editor of the book Investment Management with Peter Bernstein. Professor Damodaran is a five-time recipient of the Stern School of Business Excellence in Teaching Award (awarded by the graduating class) and was the youngest winner of the University-wide Distinguished Teaching Award in 1990. He was profiled in Business Week as one of the top 12 U.S. business school professors in 1994. Professor Damodaran holds an MBA and a PhD from the University of California at Los Angeles.
