What Old Age?

PRESENTATION OUTLINE

Assets under management of institutional investors are set to surpass those of the aggregate banking system soon, according to the Bank for International Settlements (BIS). The lion's share of such assets is dedicated to retirement provision, which represents one of the most pressing challenges to industrialized economies, given their increasing life expectancy and falling fertility. In his presentation "What Old Age?", Chris Dreyer, CFA,  is going to discuss current developments in European pensions. Starting from established models, he is going to address the macroeconomic significance as well as issues going forward, and business opportunities for the asset management industry in the capital accumulation stage, never loosing sight of governance which needs to be entirely focused on managing the assets in the sole best interest of beneficiaries. Chris Dreyer will try to apply these precepts to the retirement situation ! in Russia and hopes for a lively discussion with the audience

SPEAKER'S BIOGRAPHY

Christian Dreyer, CFA is a managing partner of Tertium datur AG, a consultancy specializing in pan-European pension issues (http://www.iorp.eu/) with a specific focus on asset management and accounting. He is currently Past President of the Swiss CFA Society (http://www.scfas.org/). Previously he was CFO of an IT services outsourcing company. Before that, he was heading a financial analysis unit. He holds an M.A. in political economy from the University of St. Gallen and an LL.M. in European Law from Edinburgh University. He is a Swiss national and lives near Basle, Switzerland. He is a member of the IASB's Analyst Representatives Group and gave presentations to IASB events on several occasions.

This meeting will be a good opportunity to learn about pension system in Europe and understand whether certain concepts are might be applied (or have to be applied) in Russia in some near future.
