The 2017-2018 CFA Institute Research Challenge moves to the next stage with the Q&A session held last night at the Moscow Exchange, CFA Russia’s long-time partner. The event featured Sergey Levitskiy, Head of Investor Relations from Detsky Mir.

Since Detsky Mir is this year’s subject company for the local stage of the Research Challenge competition, CFA Association Russia invited Levitskiy to give a presentation about the company and answer questions raised by participating students.

Around 30 students were present at the event; those who couldn’t attend the Q&A session had a chance to tune in online and watch a live broadcast.

Since Detsky Mir is the largest children’s retailer and has a long history in Russia, Levitsky skipped an introduction part and got straight to the point, by giving out details and available financial data on the company. Following a 20-minute presentation, students began firing off questions.

Participants came well-prepared and for a good amount of hour asked various questions, which would certainly help them to understand the company’s business better and write a solid financial report.

The next step for the students participating in the Research Challenge is to submit their draft report which is due on December 18. This is the first important milestone for students, as teams that fail to submit a draft report will not advance further into the competition.
