17 февраля 2017 г. Neil Withers, President of CFA Russia, and Vladimir Tutkevich, the association’s executive director, visited Ufa, the capital of Russia’s Bashkir Republic, as part of CFA Russia’s outreach program. During the business trip between February 15-16, Neil and Vladimir were accompanied by Anton Dzhugan, director of the Yekaterinburg branch of the Moscow Exchange (MoEx). Last year, CFA Russia started the outreach program seeking to familiarize and promote the mission and values of CFA Institute, as well as build ties with universities and financial professionals across Russia and the countries of the former Soviet Union.
The 2017 CFA Russia outreach program started with Ufa. During their outreach trip, Neil and Vladimir went to speak with students at two major universities in the republic, the Bashkir State University and Ufa State Petroleum Technological University. The arrival of the CFA Russia delegation and the MoEx Yekaterinburg branch director sparked an interest among local students. Around 100 students from the former university and 60 students from the latter attended the outreach meetings to learn about the CFA program and what advantageous a CFA charter would have in one’s professional career. Apart from meeting with students and faculty staff at the two Bashkir universities, Neil and Vladimir organized an evening business dinner at the Holiday Inn Hotel. 17 members of the Ufa investment and business community came to meet the representatives of CFA Russia and MoEx. Most of the guests were key account managers from several large Russian banks, including Otkritie, Sberbank, Finam, and Citibank, and financial professionals from the investment groups Aton and BKS.
Both students and financial professionals in Ufa showed a keen interest in the CFA program and the work of CFA Russia. As the association continues its outreach program across Russia, an increasing number of people are starting to pay attention to the CFA Charter and advantages it brings to one’s professional growth. Throughout 2017, CFA Russia plans to visit more cities, including Perm, Kazan, Rostov-on-Don, and even reach as far out as Vladivostok and Khabarovsk in Russia’s Far East. Many financial professionals in Russia are spread across the entire country, somewhat working in isolation from each other. CFA Russia works to fix this by connecting professionals from different parts of the country and thus improving Russia’s financial landscape. Last year, Neil and Vladimir visited the cities of Nizhny Novgorod, Yekaterinburg, Chelyabinsk, St. Petersburg and Minsk, the capital of Belarus. ![]() |
