On November 22, CFA Association Russia held the Q&A session with the representatives of Norilsk Nickel and J.P. Morgan as part of the 2018-2019 CFA Institute Research Challenge.

Research Challenge is a global competition among university students, who work to write a real equity research report on a publically traded subject company. This year’s subject company is Norilsk Nickel, the world’s leading producer of nickel and palladium.

To help the participants to learn more about the business of the subject company, CFA Association Russia made an agreement with Vladimir Zhukov, a vice-president of the Investor Relations department at Norilsk Nickel, and Anna Antonova, CFA, an equity research analyst from J.P. Morgan, to meet with students and answer their questions about the company. The event took place at the head office of Norilsk Nickel.

Around 25 students were present at the event, while the rest were tuning in online, as CFA Russia provided a live broadcast to all the participants who live outside of Moscow.

The next step for the students is to submit a draft version of their report which is due on December 17. This is an important milestone for the participants, as those who fail to submit the draft will not advance further into the competition.
