Before going for a summer vacation, CFA Association Russia organized its final business event this season on June 26. The evening seminar held at the Mazars Russia office focused on the forecast of Russian banks’ credit ratings.
In February, Moody’s Investors Service improved Russian bonds to the Baa3 grade, which moved the rating to the investment territory. That was a significant event for Russia, as all three major rating agencies, including Standard & Poor’s and Fitch, put Russian bonds in the investment category.
To learn more about this topic CFA Russia invited two experts from Moody’s – Yaroslav Sovgyra, CFA, CPA, Head of Moody’s Financial Institutions Group CIS, and Svetlana Pavlova, CFA, an assistant vice-president of the company.

The two speakers gave a thorough presentation and analysis of the topic, highlighting several important trends and risk factors. Yaroslav and Svetlana also focused on key credit challenges faced by the Russian banks.
Due to the upcoming Moody’s Russian Banking Conference, which will be held on July 10, the guest speakers asked not to expand on the details of their presentation until the end of the conference, since much of what they spoke about during the CFA Russia seminar would be included in the July conference.
A full video of the event will be available after the Moody’s Banking Conference to all CFA Russia members and those who registered to the event. To have unlimited access to all videos from previous CFA Russia events and seminars, please join the society using this link.
